Mystery of the Red Tide is not a bad story, but it has not aged well. One of the characters, Woody, is a budding archaeologist, The mystery of the red tide book in local native artifacts -- he has a theory that the indigenous peoples of the area had pottery though that goes against the current knowledge/5.

To me, the storyline was believable (in fact, it COULD happen). The ending was a bit staged with a "just in time" rescue, but I have come to expect that from most mystery writers (even Dean Koontz and James Patterson).
